Selling a car on your own can take months — not helpful when you need cash now. A pawn shop values it the same day, whether you want to sell outright or use the car as collateral for a loan and reclaim it later. The appraisal process is the same either way. Here's what determines your number.
What Affects Your Car's Value
- Make and brand. Some brands are more sought-after, which raises value.
- Model and demand. Newer, in-demand models (crossovers are popular right now) command more.
- Condition. Vehicles under about six years old hold stronger resale value.
- Mileage. The lower, the better.
- Exterior and interior. Dents, scratches, and cracked panels all pull the value down.
How the Process Works
Call ahead — appraisers may only be available certain hours — and book a time so there's no wait. After the appraisal, you'll be told what we can lend against the car or pay to buy it outright. Check your car's value online first so you know it's a fair offer. You're never under pressure to accept, and you can decide between selling and pawning once you see the number. Read the contract closely and ask any questions before you sign.
