How to request your label

The label is issued from your estimate request — that is how we know what is coming and can insure the shipment properly:

1. Fill out the Mail-In Gold form — what you are sending, its approximate weight (required — a kitchen or postal scale is fine), karat if known, and photos of each item.
2. See your instant estimate at live gold prices (we pay up to 90% of melt value).
3. We review the same day and email your free insured FedEx label with packing instructions.

Packing checklist

Plain, sturdy box inside a second box — never write "gold," "jewelry," or anything valuable-sounding on the outside.
Wrap items so they do not rattle; a rattling box invites curiosity.
Photograph your items before sealing the box — good practice for any valuable shipment.
Drop the package at a staffed FedEx location (not an unattended drop box) and keep your receipt.

What can I send?

Gold jewelry from 10K to 24K — chains, bracelets, rings, pendants — plus scrap and broken gold, gold coins, and bullion. Not sure of the karat? Shipping from Florida

Most of our kits go to Florida addresses. From Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Naples or Fort Myers, a package dropped at a staffed FedEx location usually reaches our Pompano Beach vault the next morning — same free insured label, same on-camera opening as any other state. If you would rather hand it over in person, you can sell gold at the counter in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale or Miami.

How to use your gold shipping kit, step by step

The kit is built around one idea: we should know what is coming before it leaves your hands. That is how the shipment gets insured properly and how your offer can be checked against what you described. 1. Fill in the request. You give your name, phone, email and mailing address, a short list of what you are sending with an approximate weight, photos of the pieces on a scale, and a photo of the front of your government ID.
2. Find your label. A DD Pawn account is created with your email, and you sign in to the Customer Portal with a one-time code, no password. Your prepaid insured label and tracking show up there under Mail-in gold kits.
3. Pack it. Follow the packing instructions that come with your kit and the checklist above: a plain box inside a second box, nothing rattling, nothing on the outside that hints at gold.
4. Hand it over at a staffed counter. Drop the package with a person, not in an unattended box, and keep the receipt until your offer arrives.

Before you seal the box: sort, read the stamp, weigh

Five minutes at the kitchen table makes your request more accurate and your offer easier to follow. Sort pieces by their karat stamp. You usually find it inside a ring band, on or beside a chain's clasp, on a pendant's bail or on an earring post. The stamp tells you how much of the piece is pure gold:

10K (often stamped 417) is 41.7% gold.
14K (585) is 58.5% gold.
18K (750) is 75% gold.
22K (916) is 91.7% gold.
24K (999) is 99.9% gold.

Stamps such as GF, GP, HGE or RGP mean gold-filled or gold-plated, not solid karat gold, so list those pieces separately. Weigh in grams if your scale allows it. Jewelers often quote pennyweight (dwt): one pennyweight is about 1.555 grams, and 20 pennyweight make one troy ounce. Broken chains, single earrings, bent rings and scrap all go in the same kit; just bag them so small pieces do not get lost. Is the mail-in gold kit really free?

Yes. The prepaid insured shipping label, the packing instructions and the tracking cost you nothing, and requesting a kit does not commit you to sell. If you decline the offer, your items come back to you with free insured shipping.

What comes in the gold shipping kit?

Your kit gives you a prepaid shipping label insured up to $50,000 door to door, simple packing instructions and end-to-end tracking. The label and tracking also sit in your Customer Portal under Mail-in gold kits, so you can find them again even if an email goes missing.

Do I need to know the karat or exact weight before I ship?

No. An approximate weight from a kitchen or postal scale and a few photos are enough for us to insure the shipment. We test and weigh every piece on camera when it arrives, so the final numbers come from our testing, not from your guess.

Why do you ask for a photo of my ID?

Florida law requires a government ID for precious-metal purchases, so the kit request asks for the front of your driver's license, state ID or passport. It is used only to verify ownership, and you must be 18 or older and the owner of the items you send.

How will I know my gold arrived and what it is worth?

You can follow the package with the tracking on your label. When it arrives we open it on camera, test and weigh every piece and post the clip to your Customer Portal. Your offer comes by text, email and in the portal, with the math shown: weight times purity times the day's gold market, minus our margin.
