An Apple Watch is a status symbol and a genuinely useful device — but if you've stopped wearing yours or need quick cash, you can pawn or sell it. Here's what to expect.
What Determines the Offer
Your payout depends on the series (generation), condition, and completeness — a newer, clean watch with its original box and accessories earns significantly more than an older, scuffed one. To get the best price:
- Clean it up. The more presentable, the better the offer.
- Gather the accessories. The original box and charger raise the value.
- Choose a reputable pawnbroker. Don't hand an expensive watch to just anyone.
The One Step You Must Do First: Unpair It
You can't simply "erase all content" — that leaves the watch paired to your iPhone and locked, so a new owner can't set it up. Instead:
- Keep your iPhone and Apple Watch close together and open the Watch app on the iPhone.
- Tap My Watch, then your watch's name.
- Tap the i next to it, choose Unpair Apple Watch, and follow the prompts.
This removes the Activation Lock and factory-resets the watch, while your data stays safe in your iPhone backup. Without it, no pawnbroker can buy or lend against the watch.
